Sheikh Hasina Textile Engineering College was established on 27.37 acres of land. It is the largest textile engineering company in Bangladesh, where BUTEX is established on 11.67 acres of land. Initially, SHTEC was established on 17 acres of land, but Mr. Mirza Azam donated 7 acres and the heirs of Danveer Likhon Mandal of the area donated 7'50 acres of land. The budget allocation for the college is Rs 283 crore. The college was proposed as a university, but was affiliated with BUTEX for various reasons. The first institutional activities of the college started on November 27, 2022, while the campus was under construction. The orientation of the first batch of the institution "Aritra-01" was completed on November 27, 2022 and classes started from November 28, 2022. The orientation of the second batch "Anindya-02" was held online on December 7, 2023 and online classes started from Sunday, December 10. After the construction of the campus, on 14 November 2023 AD (29 Kartik 1430 BS), Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the auspicious inauguration of the college through video conference. Sheikh Hasina Textile Engineering College is currently affiliated to the Department of Textiles and Ministry of Textiles and Jute and Bangladesh University of Textiles.
